The Paradox of Christian Victory | 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
TThroughout history, God has loved to display His power through weakness. The life and ministry of the Apostle Paul represents this well. There was not much that externally appeared glorious about his ministry and yet the gospel still went forth. Paul presents us with a paradox of sorts, ordinary vessels are used by a God with extraordinary power and it produces an eternal weight of glory. This is not done arbitrarily, rather it beautifully displays the glory of God. Watch or listen HERE or on Apple TV.
Hill Kids | This week, Hill Kids will look at the book of Ruth. Take a few days this week to look over this book with your child/children.
Hill Youth | Teens, join Hill Youth the first three Sundays of the month for youth service.
- We have Youth Club every Thursday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at 625 Churchland Rd Roanoke. Come for the food, fun and fellowship!”
Melrose Library Fall Festival | October 10th from 11am – 1pm
Join us as we come alongside the Melrose Library to host a table at their Fall Festival. This will be our third year participating in this event and what a blessing it is to join the community in something they already do well. . Sign-up slots are for one hour, this allows you and your family to enjoy the event as well as serve. If you would like to serve longer, you can sign up for more than one slot.
- Make Balloon Animals. If you don’t know how to, it’s ok we can teach you. The night before the event, we will prepare everything, and we can teach you then.
- Help attendees make gospel bracelets. This is a great way to share the gospel. Each bead on the bracelet represents a different part of the gospel, so what you say is written out for you.
- Games: We take lawn games, and it’s great to have someone keep an eye on them to reset them or play with someone.
- If you can’t make it Saturday, we will have a prep night. Once everyone registers to serve, we will send an email with the date and time of prep night.

Harvest Festival & Chili cookoff | October 31st from 11am – 2pm
t’s that time of year again! Join the Hill family October 31st from 11am – 2pm for our Harvest festival and chili competition. We would love for you to be apart of serving during our festivities, entering the competition, and/or creating a fun trunk or treat. You can register for one or more of the areas below.
– Trunk-or-Treat: Decorate your trunk and pass out candy. Pro tip. Turn your trunk into a game for a better chance to interact with families. Trunks will be voted on!!
– Games: We will have lawn games out for play. If you like interacting with and meeting new people, this is a great opportunity. Your job will be to keep track of games and play with attendees.
– Welcome Table: Welcome attendees, direct them on what to visit during the event, how to vote for best chili and trunk and answer any questions they have about the church.
– Train Coordinator- The conductor will need help with making sure kids are in line. Helping small children on and off the train. Ensuring everyone stays behind the cone and so on.
– Food: Help cook and serve food.
– Chili Cook-Off: $5 entry fee, RED chili only. Please bring your chili in a crockpot.
